On October 7, 2023, Hoa Ta gallery launched its first event at IDECAF: BASIC PHOTO VISUAL LITERACY

"PHOTO VISUAL LITERACY"
Nowadays, all of us are exposed to countless images every day, from billboards to social media interfaces. The message in the photo is sometimes clear and easy to grasp, sometimes it includes many layers that we can open one door after another, letting the mind sink deep into the interwoven streams of memories and thoughts.
Similar to written language, images are communication tools with unique language characteristics that need to be cultivated to become proficient. One of the ways that is still used is reading, discussing and perceiving. Reading, discussing and perceiving beauty helps us discover and enrich our knowledge and emotions; It’s also a way to improve your aesthetics and promote your own creativity.
Photography is a subject that is close to life and has contributed a lot to human history since its inception. The popularity and intimacy of photography is the foundation for spreading, developing and perfecting the art of photography, typically creative photography.
Creative photography is very diverse, the choice of style or genre is entirely up to the person holding the camera – and therefore the photo message has a personal touch, a harmonious combination of technique and thinking, the photographer himself.

Introducing the program "BASIC PHOTO VISUAL LITERACY"
You’ve probably seen some famous photos or photo exhibitions and wondered, “What’s so special about this photo?” Instead of jumping to conclusions and stopping at “can’t understand”, why not try to be generous and give this cause a chance by taking the time to read and comment on the photos.
How to read, discuss and perceive photos, how to cultivate the language of photography – this program hopes to help you come up with some methods to suggest your own way.
The monthly “Basic photographic visual literacy” program, focusing on photographic appreciation, is a collaboration between Hoa Ta and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khanh, a photographer and former photography lecturer. We will learn photography through reading images with Mr. Khanh and other experienced photographers.
Through this program, you will have a deeper look at photography, expand your aesthetic perspective and begin to enjoy or practice photography in a new, more serious way.
